The many square, angular surfaces - coffee table, glass-top dining table, geometric scatter rug, frameless paintings — are softened by large, leafy plants and rounded vases in greens and off-whites. Natural wood cabinetry and stone columns enhance the illusion of being in a country retreat despite the fact the city is just the other side of the balcony.
But despite the somewhat country casual ambiance, there's no question this is a distinctly urban-chic kitchen area. A stainless steel hood fan over the centre island cooktop echoes the contemporary styling of a double-wide refrigerator and built-in, stacked wall ovens. A granite eating bar provides a more casual place to share a meal, engage in conversation with the chef, or simply get a different perspective on the movie.
